Catherine's Choice, a pattern for the changing seasons of Motherhood

Welcome to Baker Lane Dressmaking & Design, the online catalogue for women who long for a return to the grace and femininity of past fashions. From 1999 to 2005, Baker Lane offered ladies' custom clothing, both practical and pretty. Many styles were developed especially for the expectant and nursing mother. "Can I buy the pattern?" you wondered. With great joy, we released our first sewing pattern in 2004.

Catherine's Choice is a versatile empire style for the changing seasons of motherhood (shown above).. In spring 2005, we ceased dressmaking to focus our energies on pattern development. Several more of our favorite dress designs are currently in the works.

In April 2006, Baker Lane passed into Mandy Foster's capable hands. Her love for old fashions and a degree in Apparel Production and Design make her an ideal fit for Baker Lane. As a busy wife and mother, Mandy will be making patterns during daughter Juliana's nap time.

With Shakespeare, old fashions please us best, and we hope they will you too! We enjoy incorporating feminine elements of the past into our designs: empire waistlines (perfect for maternity styles), romantic tea-length skirts, scoop necklines, princess seams, tucks, rick-rack, eyelet lace, gathered sleeves.
